COCA COLA SCHOLARSHIPS

This page provides information specifically for the scholarships provided by the highly prestigious Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation. Check below for more scholarships to apply for as a high school student.

THE COCA-COLA SCHOLARS PROGRAM: SHAPING THE LEADERS OF TOMORROW

Specifically for high school seniors, including those that are homeschooled, these highly prestigious scholarships are worth $20,000 each. You must be an outstanding high schooler who is determined and committed, and with proven distinction in giving back to the society in selfless ways. These are achievement-based scholarships, and in fact, collectively, they represent the biggest corporate-funded scholarship program in the U.S. and the world.

The Coca-Cola Scholars Program scholarship is a merit-based award specifically for high school students in their senior year. Recipients are acknowledged for their demonstrated leadership and service capabilities, along with their dedication to effecting a substantial positive influence on their schools and communities. Annually, 150 Coca-Cola Scholars are chosen to receive a $20,000 scholarship. (In addition to these main scholarships, the foundation also funds two other scholarships programs, which award more than 300 scholarships per year, with amounts ranging from $1,000 to $1,500.)

Eligibility criteria for the main program (i.e. to be a Coca-Cola scholar) are clearly laid out on their website. In a nutshell, you must be a currently enrolled high school or home-schooled student in one of the 50 U.S. states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, or select DoD schools. Students graduating from an American or expat school abroad are ineligible, and so are individuals who have already graduated from high school. Must be U.S. Citizens, U.S. Nationals, U.S. Permanent Residents, Refugees, Asylees, Cuban-Haitian Entrants, or Humanitarian Parolees, following the U.S. Department of Education guidelines for Federal Financial Aid eligibility. In other words, you must be anticipating the receipt of a high school diploma in the current academic year and intending to pursue a degree at an accredited U.S. post-secondary institution, although these scholarships are highly distinctive in that once you receive them, you have four-to-ten years to actually use the scholarship. You need to also be able to verify a minimum overall B/3.0 GPA in high school coursework.

Ineligible categories are also clearly laid out on the foundation's website. These include: temporary residents of the U.S.; children or grandchildren of current Coca-Cola employees; officers, or owners of Coca-Cola bottling companies; children or grandchildren of former employees currently receiving retirement benefits from their past employment with Coca-Cola bottling companies; international students, but excluding those attending DoD schools, and high school graduates (though, note, as stated above, that once you get the scholarship as a high school senior, you have plenty of time to actually use it).

Beyond the acquisition of college scholarships, chosen students will be embraced into a dynamic and expanding community known as the Coke Scholars family, which has evolved into a formidable catalyst for positive transformations worldwide. This collective endeavors to amplify its influence by fostering connections, fostering collaborations, and cultivating friendships. The array of initiatives encompasses a podcast named "The SIP" and the eighth installment of a mentoring program that pairs experienced Scholars with those in their first year, facilitating a smooth transition to college. Additionally, a Coca-Cola Scholars Leadership Summit is held every five years, inviting all alumni to participate.

There is no specific discipline to win these scholarships. Indeed, Coke Scholars encompass a diverse range of roles, from scientists to politicians, educators to actors. They are technologists, thinkers, and doers, but most importantly, they are game-changers. These visionary leaders are not only refreshing the world but also achieving success on a global scale. Their impact resonates across various sectors, making a mark in areas such as business, nonprofit, and public service.
